The Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province held the conference on reviewing 6-year implementation of non-fired building materials (NFBM) development program in the province on August 11th, 2017 at Cam Thanh Hotel, Quang Ngai city. The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Phong, Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Construction, Mr. Nguyen DinhHau, the Project Director and the Director General of the Department of Science and Technology for Economic-Technical Branches under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST).

The Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province held the conference on reviewing 6-year implementation of non-fired building materials (NFBM) development program in the province on August 11th, 2017 at Cam Thanh Hotel, Quang Ngai city. The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Phong, Director of the Quang Ngai Department of Construction, Mr. Nguyen DinhHau, the Project Director and the Director General of the Department of Science and Technology for Economic-Technical Branches under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and more than 150 delegates from Quang Ngai, BinhDinh, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Gia Lai provinces.

After more than 03 years of implementing the Decision No. 222/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province and conditions of building material development investment in the province, the outstanding advantage is that the investors have complied with using NFBM in construction works, many investors are interested in NFBM production, so far, total designed capacity of all NFBM manufacturers in the province is about 180 million pieces per year, which basically fulfills demand from construction works using State fund in the province.
However, some difficulties exist. There are still construction works for the types of NFBMs which have not yet announced cost estimation such as cellular lightweight concrete (CLC), cement block for walls with thickness from 10 cm to 25 cm at different heights, therefore, it is difficult to estimate costs for these types of building materials. Many investors, design consultants, building contractors and consumers are not fully aware of regulations of the State and advantages of NFBM products. Quality of the product has not been strictly controlled before being launched into the market; stages of product preservation during storage and delivery are not proper which also affects the quality of the products.
“Promotion of NFB Production and Utilization in Viet Nam” project was honored to receive financial support from United Nations Development Program (UNDP) through the Global Environment Facility (GEF), contributing to the successful organization of the Conference on reviewing 6-year results of the 567 Program in Quang Ngai province. The Project Director expressed his thanks and hoped to receive further attention of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, Quang Ngai Department of Construction for the Projects’ activities. The Project will also continue to co-operate, support to improve capacity, knowledge for local related individuals and organizations, have technical assistance for NFB production investment in the area, take part in the successful implementation of the Government’s NFBM Development Program.
