Provide knowledge of construction & acceptance of construction works using NFBs in Ho Chi Minh City
In the framework of training courses to provide knowledge of utilization of non-fired bricks to stakeholders, the training course on "Construction & acceptance of construction works using non-fired bricks” took place on 26 September 2019 in Ho Chi Minh City. Attending the training course were Mr. Pham Van Bac, Director General of Department of Construction Materials - Ministry of Construction; Mr. Le Tran Kien, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction; representatives of Project Management Board; lecturers from Viet Nam Institute for Building Science and Technology - Ministry of Construction and Experts of Viglacera Corporation.
Mr. Le Tran Kien, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction in his opening speech
Speaking at the opening of the training course, Mr. Le Tran Kien, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, said: In order to promote the use of green, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly materials in the context of climate changewhich is becoming more and more complicated, Ho Chi Minh City focused on implementing and promoting the development of non-fired building materials (NFBMs) under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction's regulations, it is also a solution to address the demand for building materials due to the termination of the production of fired clay bricks within the prescribed time limit from 2010. Since 2013, there have been 1,334 construction projects & works which are compulsory users of NFBMs including 533 completed projects using NFBMs. With the increasing demand for NFBMs, the number of enterprises producing NFBMs in the City has increased from 4 to 20 establishments. With the advantages of NFBMs, combined with many consistent implementation solutions of all levels & sectors, NFBMs have been used quite commonly in construction works, especially works using state budgets in Ho Chi Minh City.
Also according to Mr. Le Tran Kien: In recent years, some construction contractors in the City are still confused in construction and use of NFBMs, encountering technical handling issues to prevent cracking of works, therefore the Department Construction of the City has cooperated with the Project "Promotion of non-fired brick production and utilization in Viet Nam" of the Ministry of Science and Technology to organize this course to contribute to improving the quality of construction works towards the stable and sustainable development of the construction sector and urban of Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Vo Quang Diem, Project Specialist emphasized: The training program includes documents and videos compiled by the Project Management Board in coordination with the Viet Nam Institute for Building Science and Technology - Ministry of Construction for construction technical workers, supervising experts and construction instructors (This document will be posted on the Project website for interested readers). Participants of this course includingofficials and experts in design evaluation - cost estimation, quality assessment, construction inspection of Department of Construction; supervising consultants; instructors of construction & acceptance techniques, leaders of construction teams in construction works of contractors and vocational teachers in construction colleges and intermediate vocational schools need to actively discuss with lecturers in order to master the knowledge and processes not only for their professional work, but also for their capability to instruct technical workers who directly implement the construction works satisfying strict requirements on construction quality.
Dr. Hoang Minh Duc, Viet Nam Institute for Building Science and Technology
introducing the Process of construction and acceptance of construction works using concrete bricks
During the course, participants watched the video and were introduced by Dr. Hoang Minh Duc, Institute for Building Science and Technology with detailed Process of construction and acceptance of construction works using concrete bricks and Nguyen Van Kien - Viglacera’s Expert introduced the Process of construction and acceptance of construction works using AAC wall panels and installation of reinforced AAC wall panels. Participants were provided with the following knowledge: Classification of concrete bricks, AAC bricks with technical characteristics (Compressive strength, elastic modules, water absorption, waterproofing, shrinkage, volumetric weight); mortar used (Dry mortar, wet mortar, ready-mixed mortar, skimcoat, putty); installation of electrical and water systems; construction of skimcoat, putty, paint; auxiliary materials used in construction; construction tools, accessories and equipment; construction steps, processes and time; construction supervision, acceptance (Input materials, ground, rough masonry, bonding, bracing, installation of electrical & water systems, waterproofing, anti-cracking, plastering, skimcoat, putty and painting); fixing defects during construction while using concrete bricks (Cracks through walls, between walls and columns/beams, cracked or peeled plastering, moisture, blister paint and paint stains).
The organizers awarding certificates to participants
After the course, more than 70 participants gained the contents of basic properties, advantages and disadvantages of each type of bricks, movements and processes for construction with some notes about common defects in construction and remedies, supervision and acceptance of construction blocks using concrete bricks and AAC bricks.
